The Friends of Winchester College offer members a diverse programme of events, details of which can be seen in the list below for June 2022.

All events are subject to school and government COVID-19 guidelines.

Musical Reception: Thursday 9 June, 6.15pm, Music School Hall - Exclusive for the Friends of Winchester College
We are delighted to be able to be able to invite you to the Friends Musical Reception. It will take a similar format to previous years with classical and jazz music. There will be canapés and wine served in the interval, which, depending on the weather, we hope will be served in the sunshine.

Wykeham Day: Saturday 18 June, All day, Various Locations of School
The day will start with a service in Chapel.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to visit the school and enjoy the many activities of the day. A full programme of events will be issued shortly and will include sports, music and much more. There will be a marquee where you can purchase refreshments on the day.

Tour of Winchester College Gardens: Tuesday 21 June, 6.15pm
The gardens of Winchester College are at their best in June and July. Join the Head Gardener, Alan Smith, for a tour of the Warden’s Garden, the Common Room (Bethesda) garden, one of the House gardens, the gardens of War Cloister and the College Sickhouse garden, followed by drinks and music in the beautiful surroundings of the Warden’s Gardens. Alan will explain the College’s new ‘rewilded’ areas as well as the bed designs and plants of our more traditional English formal gardens.

Sir Dieter Helm: Thursday 30 June, 7pm, New Hall
Sir Dieter Helm is Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Oxford and Fellow in Economics at New College, Oxford. From 2012 to 2020, he was Independent Chair of the Natural Capital Committee, providing advice to the government on the sustainable use of natural capital.  In the New Year 2021 Honours List, Dieter was awarded a knighthood for services to the environment, energy and utilities policy. Do join us for what will be a fascinating talk by an internationally renowned expert on environmental change and economic policy.
