New Hall Opening - 'The Way We Are Now'

To celebrate its complete refurbishment over the last year, New Hall, displayed in all its new-found glory, was formally opened by Mrs Lindsay Fox, Vice-Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, on Sunday 18th January. Read more.

Following an introduction by the Warden, Charles Sinclair, who described the history of the wooden panelling and the original  construction of New Hall in 1961, 150 guests and boys were treated to a series of sketches: historic - covering William of Wykeham, The Great War and Afghanistan; pure entertainment- a fencing demonstration, Snow White in 5 minutes and a recital of Peter Cook’s Experiences Down the Mine; and musical- a Beethoven Septet, Folk Songs from the British Isles and a Quirister version of Money, Money, Money.

All present were agreed that it had been an excellent evening, demonstrating the varied skills of modern-day Wykehamists at the highest of standards, suitably framed by magnificent surroundings.
