BOTTOMING OUT

On 10 November, a key milestone was marked in the build. The lowest part of the project was reached on the site for the foundations of the swimming pool. The deepest part of the pool will be 3.8 metres below the level of the old car park. PROGRESS TO DATE

  • The piling is complete and the foundation is now ready for the building of the new Sports Centre.
  • The dewatering pumps are in place and keeping the water table levels low for the construction of the new swimming pool.
  • The excavations to form the basement to the pool are now complete and the new pool basement concrete floor slab has been cast.
  • Foundations and reinforced concrete walls are commencing on the Fitness Pavilion.
  • A 75-metre tower crane has arrived on site and is now in operation.

THE MONTHS AHEAD

  • Over the next three months, work is expected to reach the first floor level of the new pool and fitness pavilion.
  • Foundations to the new Sports Hall will be laid.
