RECITA

Every year, pupils in the school compete through their divs (general studies classes) for a place in a public reading competition final. An autumn highlight, the event is organised by Mr. Richard Stillman of the English Department.

The readings can be in the form of a poem or passage of prose. The standard in the final is remarkably high – readings are learned by heart and the Final is judged by an external adjudicator.

Expect fireworks from authors as varied as William Shakespeare; Maya Angelou; Evelyn Waugh and Dorothy Parker.
