Please note: The Old Wykehamist Medical Society (OWMS) page is open to all to view. However, to receive updates and circulars via our mailing list, and to be able to sign up to OWMS events, one must be a qualifying member of the OWMS, either by studying, or working, in the fields of medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine. The OWMS exists to support current students at the College wishing to pursue a career in the fields of medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine, and as a network for OWs in these areas. The Society hosts several activities to support these aims.

In the past, we have supported current students at the College through:

i. Lectures on a variety of topics relating to life in medicine, and medical school applications by OWs;

ii. Mock interviews for those preparing for university applications;

iii. Opportunities for work experience placements; and

iv. An essay prize.

For OWMS members, we hold an annual dinner at the College. This usually consists of pre-dinner drinks and a talk, followed by a three-course meal in College Hall. Dependent on the exact date, this is also on occasion attended by current students.

There are also joint tripartite dinners, hosted in turn by the Old Wykehamist, Old Harrovian, and Old Etonian Medical Societies. The last editions of these occurred in 2015, at the College, hosted by the OWMS; in 2017, at the Royal College of Physicians, hosted by the Old Harrovian Medical Society; and in 2022, at Eton College, hosted by the Old Etonian Medical Society.

In recent years, we have reserved a table on Lavender Meads on Wykeham Day, for members to meet up. This is usually planned beforehand, via e-mail to gauge interest.

Finally, we conduct an Annual General Meeting, either on Wykeham Day, or at the OWMS Dinner. All members are welcome, as are your opinions and suggestions.
