VISITING US

Old Wykehamists visit the school on a variety of occasions throughout the year and you are warmly welcome at our weekly Chapel services and to spectate at sports matches. Some special Chapel services are reserved for the school, so it is always best to check in advance. Full details are in the school calendar here.

If you plan to visit Winchester College other than for an organised event, safeguarding regulations are likely to be in place (this is always the case during term time), in which case you will be asked to observe certain limits to ensure we meet our safeguarding obligations. To make your visit smoother, we ask you to observe the following:

• Give Winchester Collegge Society as much notice as possible of your visit. A week or more is ideal. We hold two free places on the twice-daily guided tours and you can book online here if there are more than two in your party.

• Visitor access is via the Porters’ Lodge only and you will be asked for your details by the porters.

• Those who arrive at the Porters’ Lodge unannounced might still be able to join a guided tour if not already fully booked. As above, it is better to give plenty of warning.

ATTENDING EVENTS

When you attend events taking place in the College, please assist our security team by following guidance
(such as sign-in procedures and keeping to designated areas) and by using designated entry and exit
points (usually Porters’ Lodge or Black Gate beside New Hall).
Thank you all for your support.

TOURS

The school welcomes visitors to its museum, Treasury, and on guided tours, as well as to public events throughout the year, including Heritage Open Days.

Our one hour tours, led by experienced Tour Guides, concentrate on the medieval heart of the school including Chamber Court, Chapel, College Hall, Cloisters and the 17th Century School building. The film, Hidden Winchester, takes in some of the highlights you will see on the tour, as well as revealing hidden spaces not usually seen by the public.

Read more and book a tour here.

Formal tours can be arranged through the Enterprises Office.
