Commodore
WSC was founded by Sir Reginald Bennett (X 24- 30) in 1929 and provides a club structure whereby OW sailors can meet and sail together. In addition it provides opportunities for OW sailors to sail against school sailors and also to help train school sailors in team racing.
The calendar year contains the following regular events:
Belvidere Trophy – one day public school old boy racing event run by Royal Thames Yacht Club. Takes place in April.
Cowes weekend- takes place in May and includes both OW sailors and boys in the school. Corinthian racing across to Cowes in yachts owned by OW’s and round the cans racing on the Sunday with dinner at Royal Yacht Squadron on the Saturday night.
Seaview weekend – sailed in Mermaids at Seaview and including Sir Reginald Bennett trophy. OW’s and school attend. Saturday/Sunday in September.
Arrow Trophy – Public School old boys regatta in October sailed in chartered yachts..
Annual dinner and AGM in London – for OW’s and school sailing captains.
A tie is available as are burgees.
There is an annual subscription of £15 per year. Life memberships are also available.
