PROGRESS TO DATE

• The construction is progressing well with two of the three pavilions for the Sports Centre now well under way, namely the Swimming Pool and the Fitness Pavilion.
• The Sports Hall Pavilion is programmed to start when access is possible.
• The pool basement level is now largely complete and backfilling of the excavations around the basement is progressing. The excavations that were taking place below the water table are coming to an end.
• The lower ground floor walls, lift shaft and columns of the Fitness Pavilion are now well advanced and you can begin to identify the structural box in which the squash courts will be constructed.
• Work has also begun on Mill with demolition of the old Works Department now underway.

THE MONTHS AHEAD

• Scaffolding will be going up shortly so that work can begin on the first floor level of the pool, which includes the floor area around the pool and also the upper floor to the Fitness Pavilion where the squash courts viewing gallery is situated.
• The next stage will be preparations needed for the arrival of the steel frame for these two pavilions. It has already been assembled and once it is up the building will really start to take shape as it heads towards the roof level.
• The timber roof over the pool is due to be created later in the summer and will then be delivered and installed by specialists.
