ICENA/Rowing

Whilst, unfortunately, WCBC's ambition to make it to the second day of Henley was thwarted by a tough draw, losing to KCS in the first round, ICENA's week continued long past the Tuesday with much merriment and conviviality had. We can express only gratitude for the fantastic lunch offered by the parents of current boys prior to cheering-off the First VIII as they boated. Onto the Wednesday, the committee welcomed 5 new members to ICENA and awarded the leavers their ties over dinner at Henley cricket club.

Whilst gatherings of blue and red Winchester blazers could be sighted throughout the week, it was towards the weekend that ICENA came out in full-force. As well as seeing members from across the generations on the Friday at our "official" meet-up, those who were unable to attend, due to the burdens of the conventional working week, made a strong appearance on the Saturday. We can only hope that those of you who joined us throughout the week enjoyed catching-up with old friends and watching a bit of rowing, largely from the confines of the Fawley bar, as much as we did.

Looking forwards, our annual dinner will be hosted in Winchester on the 18th of November. For now, we just ask that you could save the date and details will be sent out in due course.

Whether you will be attending the dinner or not, we hope those of you who are able would consider making a donation to support ICENA, and moreover WCBC. As we have previously stated, the money we raise is primarily intended to cover the additional costs of rowing, which are not otherwise paid for by the school, particularly for students on bursaries, such as kit and training camps. However, we are also looking to invest in the club in other ways in view to aiding the success of WCBC into the future. You can make a one-off donation to this cause, or can setup a recurring donation in the "Support Us" section of this webpage. Anything from £2 a month or just £25 a year makes a big difference and would be hugely appreciated. You need only write “ICENA” in the preference box and select “Other Project” in the campaign menu.

We hope to see many of you soon.
