College Porter Tony Edwards and his wife Linda have signed up to participate in three challenges this autumn, for a very personal reason. On September 17th they are talking part in their 3rd Football March, walking a marathon between football grounds, and as part of the training for this they are walking the IOW Coastal Path. This is 70 miles around the IOW coastline which they plan to do over 4 legs. They finish with the Great South Run in October, on Tony’s 63rd birthday. This will be Tony’s 15th Great South Run!
In summer 2020 during the covid pandemic, Tony was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer: advanced meaning it had already spread to his bones, and as such was incurable. Nearly three years on and the treatment is still going well so he is keen to carry on doing events while he can.
Tony and Linda want to raise as much money as possible for Prostate Cancer UK for two reasons. Firstly, to raise awareness. Secondly, the treatment that Tony is getting is only possible because of the work of this brilliant charity, and he is taking part in a research trial himself. He feels very strongly that he wants to do what he can to help other men and maybe avoid this nightmare for other families.
Tony and Linda would hugely appreciate anything you can give to support them as they understand it is difficult times for many at the moment:
