D W Rogers (Coll, 1958-63) has completed a part-time DPhil in the Oxford History Faculty with a thesis based on the correspondence of C F Andrews, E J Thompson, and V H Elwin, originally missionaries in India who became supporters of the Independence movement, developing close friendships with Gandhi, Tagore. and Nehru.
