Goddard Day took place on Saturday 7 September, our annual celebration of thanks to those who have kindly pledged a legacy to the College in their Wills. A moving Chapel service with Ben Cahill-Nichols (E, 2000-05) preaching and with choral music led by the new Director of Chapel Music and Choral Partnerships, Dónal McCann, was followed by a reception and lunch in New Hall. The Warden and Headmaster addressed our guests with a comprehensive and well-received update about the school. Sir John Kemp-Welch (E, 1949-54) replied on behalf of Goddard members, recalling the previous contributions to the Society by its founder Robin Fox (A, 1950-55), Patrick MacClure (I, 1952-57) and, more recently, the outgoing Chairman David Fellowes (I, 1963-67).
Our guests ranged from the Sen Man, John Galpin (E, 1942-46) to younger guests who left in 2012.
Pledging a legacy is an excellent way to support the College. Using a Codicil, it is simple to add a gift to Win Coll to an existing Will, or of course it can be done when setting up a new Will. Goddard Day is always enjoyable and a good way to stay in touch with matters Wykehamical. Please do consider joining the Goddard Legacy Society. The new Chairman, Alex Roe (G, 1972-75), would be delighted to welcome you aboard. For more information, please email Patrick Walker (I, 1965-70).
